Resin Wall Clocks — A Complete Buying Guide from Giftistan
A wall clock is one of those decisions that lives with you for years. Get it right and it pulls a room together — get it generic and it just hangs there, telling time. This guide is what we wish every customer asked us before ordering a resin wall clock at Giftistan. Sizes, numerals, calligraphy options, dried-flower palettes, occasion fit, lead time, care — all of it, in the order it actually matters.
Start with size — measure the wall, not the clock
The most common mistake is picking a clock that's too small for the wall. A 10-inch dial reads as a focal point on a 4-foot wall but disappears on a 7-foot one. Stand back from the wall, eyeball roughly a third of the empty horizontal width, and that's a sensible clock diameter.
- 10 inch — bedrooms, study walls, prayer corners. Reads as accent décor.
- 12 inch — the all-purpose size. Living rooms, dining walls, entrance walls. Our most-ordered.
- 14 inch — large living rooms, double-height walls, statement pieces. Pairs well with a single sofa wall.
- 16+ inch (custom) — gallery walls, stair walls, double-height entries. Made-to-order with 2–3 weeks of lead time.
Roman, Arabic, or Islamic numerals — pick by interior, not preference
All three numeral styles read beautifully — the question is what your room is doing. Roman numerals lean traditional and pair with classical or vintage interiors. Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3) are clean and modern, ideal for minimalist rooms or contemporary apartments. Islamic numerals use Arabic calligraphy on the dial and often a short ayah along the inner ring — the standard choice for Muslim homes, prayer corners, and Islamic gifting (nikah, walima, Eid).
- Roman numerals (I, II, III…) — traditional, classical, vintage interiors.
- Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3…) — modern, minimalist, contemporary.
- Mixed dial (12, 3, 6, 9 in Arabic; rest as marks) — the cleanest middle path.
- Islamic calligraphy numerals — Arabic-script numerals plus an optional ayah on the inner ring.
Personalisation — names, dates, and gold foil
Personalisation is what turns a wall clock into a gift. Most of our customers add at least one of the options below. The trick is restraint — one or two personal details land harder than five competing for attention.
- Family name on the dial in gold foil (most popular for housewarmings).
- Couple's names + wedding date hidden inside the numeral positions (anniversary gift).
- A short dua or ayah along the inner ring (Islamic gifting).
- Initials or monogram in the centre of the dial (clean, modern look).
- The home address or a 'Est. 20XX' tag (housewarming + Diwali).
Dried-flower palette — match the wall, not the clock
Every clock can be poured with real dried flowers preserved inside the resin. The flowers should pick up a colour from the room — a cushion, a curtain, a rug — not match the clock face itself. Send us a photo of the wall and we'll pick a palette.
- Roses (deep red, soft pink, white) — wedding gift, anniversary gift, romantic interiors.
- Marigolds (saffron, ochre, mustard) — Diwali, festive interiors, warm-toned rooms.
- Pressed wildflowers (mixed pastel) — children's rooms, soft modern interiors.
- Lavender (pale violet) — bedrooms, prayer corners, calm interiors.
- No flowers — clean glass-only finish, suits very modern rooms.
Movement and battery — silent quartz, AA cell
Every Giftistan wall clock uses a Japanese silent-quartz movement (no ticking, no audible sweep) powered by a single AA battery. The movement is rated for 3+ years on a quality alkaline cell. Replacement is a 30-second job — pop the back cover, swap the battery, click it shut. The movement itself is replaceable too if it ever fails outside warranty.
Occasion fit — what gets ordered for what
Different occasions pull different versions of the clock. A few patterns from hundreds of orders:
- Housewarming / griha pravesh — family name + 'Est. 20XX', warm marigold palette, 12 inch.
- Wedding gift — couple's names + wedding date hidden in numerals, rose palette, 12 or 14 inch.
- Anniversary gift — wedding date as the central detail, palette from the wedding venue, 12 inch.
- Nikah / walima — Arabic-numeral dial with a short ayah, soft pastel palette, 12 inch.
- Eid / Ramadan — Islamic calligraphy dial, gold-foil ayah ring, restrained palette, 12 inch.
- Diwali — marigold palette with metallic gold-leaf flakes, 12 or 14 inch.
- Corporate gifting — company name + recipient name, neutral palette, 10 inch (sized down for desk + wall flexibility).
Lead time — what 'made to order' actually means
Every clock is poured for the order. Resin needs 24–48 hours of layered curing per pour, plus drying time between layers, plus finishing. The full timeline below is honest. If you have a fixed deadline (a wedding date, a flight, a festival) WhatsApp us before ordering — we will tell you whether we can meet it before you pay.
- Day 0 — order placed, design mockup begins on WhatsApp.
- Day 1–2 — mockup approval (we wait for your sign-off before pouring).
- Day 3–6 — resin pours, layered curing, dried-flower inclusion.
- Day 7–9 — finishing, gold-foil application, movement install, quality check.
- Day 10 — gift-wrapped and dispatched.
- Day 14–17 — delivered across India (4–7 day transit).
Care — UV resin is forgiving, but here's what matters
We use UV-stabilised resin specifically because the cheap stuff yellows under sunlight. Our clocks hold their colour for 10+ years even on a sunlit wall. The only care a wall clock needs is the basics.
- Wipe with a dry microfibre cloth — never use cleaning sprays directly on the resin.
- If something sticky lands on it, dab with a barely-damp cloth and dry immediately.
- Avoid hanging directly above a heater or AC vent — heat cycling stresses the mounting.
- If the clock ever falls and the resin chips, send us a photo on WhatsApp — most chips are repairable.
- Battery: replace every 2–3 years with a fresh AA alkaline. Don't mix old and new cells.
Pricing — what you're actually paying for
Resin wall clocks at Giftistan range from ₹1,499 for a 10-inch dial with a single dried-flower inclusion to ₹6,999 for a 16-inch Islamic-calligraphy clock with a full gold-foil ayah ring. The price scales with three things: size (more resin and more drying time), calligraphy (hand-applied gold foil takes hours), and personalisation depth (a single family name versus a date + initials + dua). Common questions we get on WhatsApp
Three questions come up over and over — worth answering here.
- Can the clock be made larger than 16 inch? Yes, up to 24 inch. Add 2 weeks to lead time and budget at least ₹8,000.
- Can you mix Islamic calligraphy with a non-Islamic palette (e.g. roses, not marigolds)? Yes — the calligraphy is a dial style, not a colour rule. Pick whichever flowers fit the room.
- Do you make wall clocks without flowers? Yes. The 'pure resin + numerals' look is popular in very modern interiors. Send us a wall photo and we'll mock up a layout.
